Earth Painting Workshop With Meg Jorgenson

  • Private location in Topanga Canyon (map)

EARTH PAINTING WORKSHOP

Introduction

It’s worth remembering that painting has its roots in ancient practices, beginning with the gathering of rocks to grind into pigment. Cave drawings survive from a time when every person was, in a sense, a poet. Whether these images served as records or as decoration, each mark carried the unique expression of its maker. I see this as a language of spiritual belonging — a reflection of our harmony with the natural world.

Description

LA-based artist Meg Jorgenson will lead a 2-hour interactive class, sharing her approach to abstract impressionism through the use of foraged earth pigments. Nature itself will serve as our guide and inspiration.

Outline

This workshop invites participants to explore visual expression through painting, with a focus on earth-based pigments. This part of my artistic practice is radical in that it reawakens our sense of interconnectedness — with ourselves, with one another, and with the land.
