Pulling from sensory-immersed memories and inspirations gathered on-site, Places captures the faint familiarity of each unique location visited during a five-year period (2015-2020). The 204 hand-sewn compositions, created in the same amount of time, use subtle neutral tones to emphasize the materials' tactile nature and highlight the creative process's meditative quality. The slowed-down movement and simple forms require intentionality. Each stitch weaves through the surface causing the paper to both soften and strengthen, reflecting how the mind warms to a place once a rhythm is found.
