Retail Sales Associate (part-time)

Love interior design, aesthetics, and art? We are hiring part-time sales associates at our studio, gallery, and ethically focused shop in Topanga Canyon.

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about design, art, and sustainable lifestyle, who enjoys working in a creative environment with a lot of variety in day-to-day tasks.

We are looking for someone detail orientated who can help customers choose goods, maintain an aesthetically pleasing and organized environment, pack purchases, replenish stock and occasionally help carry heavier items. We are looking for someone with creative initiative who wants to grow with the team, doesn’t mind posting on social media, and has a keen eye for beautiful detail.

The position will be about 3 days a week with flexible shifts.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a friendly and approachable attitude.

  • Create an inviting atmosphere.

  • Help customers with purchases and drive sales through engagement.

  • Be informative about the objects and art works in the store.

  • Provide information about the gallery pieces we have on display. Update our databases and share pricing with customers if they are interested in purchasing high price art-works.

  • If a customer is interested in a custom piece, show swatches and images from our database.

  • Respond to any questions asked by the customer.

  • Refer any interested customers to our design services - full-spectrum and consultancy.

  • Provide brilliant customer service.

  • Keep sales recorded.

  • Manage financial transactions.

  • Processes payments by totaling purchases, processing cash, and store or other credit and debit cards through our Square system.

  • Pack merchandise appropriately.

  • Assist with inventory, including receiving and stocking merchandise.

  • Place orders for the store through our wholesalers.

  • Create content for Artemis Studio LA social media.

  • Keep clientele informed by notifying them of preferred customer sales and future merchandise of potential interest.

  • Inform management or security immediately about any security threats.

  • Room for growth to our design team, product development, social media, and more.

Store / position details:

  • We are open 11am - 6pm Tue - Sun, and occasionally out of hours for special events or evenings.

  • The position is part-time (10-20 hours/week)

  • Flexibility for staff coverage is preferred

  • No current benefits available - 15% in-store discount on most merchandise excluding gallery items and free participation in creative events if space allows.

  • $15-$16/hr depending on experience

Preferred:

  • 1+ years of retail/restaurant/market experience / key holder experience desired
