By Shawn Hanna.

This image, shot in Death Valley during a super bloom of rare wild flowers, was specifically inspired by Andrew Wyeth’s painting “Chistina’s World”. It is a quietly stunning painting of a young woman laying in a field gazing at her home in the distance. For years The New York MOMA had it hung in a hall just outside of one of their public bathrooms. Thankfully they have since moved it into a gallery with other pieces.

Shawn is a Topanga based photographer, filmmaker and traveller. History, film theory, natural systems, adventure, art, and the shared human experience greatly inspire his perspective.

Here & Nowhere At All is a wider collection of still and moving images that have been captured over several years on a handful of continents. It is an exploration of land and memory as a dream of a dream of a dream. A nod to presence and the intangible awareness of the holy Nothing At All - that sweetly ephemeral sensation which yokes our collective experience in the natural world.

Show at Artemis until February 5th.
